From Highway 147 South, take exit 14 for Swift Avenue. At the top of the exit ramp, turn right. Follow Swift Avenue down the hill to the four-way stop at Campus Drive. Turn left onto Campus Drive. Take your first right onto Maxwell Avenue. Smith Warehouse is located at the top of the hill. Visitor parking is the first right before you reach the top of the hill.

From Highway 147 North, take exit 13 for Chapel Hill Street. At the top of the ramp, turn right. Cross the bridge over 147 and turn right onto S. Buchanan Blvd. Turn left onto Maxwell Avenue and follow the street down to the opposite end of Smith Warehouse, where Bay 12 is located.

Parking:

A paid visitor parking area is located directly across from Bay 12 on Maxwell Avenue. Park here and walk across the street to the steps that will take you up to the entrance to Bay 12.

The Duke Smith Bus (DSW C-1) runs between Duke’s East and West campuses, stopping between Bays 6 & & on Maxwell Avenue. Alternatively, visitors may walk up the hill from the stop at Campus Drive and Maxwell Avenue.

Visitors may also arrive via the Bully City Connector, a free bus service running between Duke Hospital and the Durham Bus Station, which stops at West Main / West Morgan Street and West Main / Campus Drive.

Lab Use Policy

The Wired! Lab’s use is prioritized for Wired! Courses and their students, affiliated research projects, Digital Art History and Computational Media MA students, and workshops offered by Wired! faculty and staff (Smith Warehouse, Bay 11, A233) . The Wired! team tries to keep the lab as available as possible for affiliated students to work independently or in small groups. To this extent, we limit teaching in the lab to 2-3 Wired! project-based courses per semester and reserve Fridays for project meeting time. We typically do not host courses or events organized by other units, although occasionally we may co-sponsor an event if the activity is relevant to our mission of promoting digital pedagogy and undergraduate research in digital art history and visual culture.
