Simon Verity returning to Duke

Sculptor Simon Verity will be returning to Duke in January, 2015. During his residency, he will be working with The Lives of Things project to recreate a sculpture, Head of a virtue from Notre-Dame Cathedral, held in the Nasher Museum’s permanent collection. Students and faculty participating in the project will document Verity’s work using videography and 3D photography techniques with the purpose of examining processes used to create medieval sculptures. During his visit, Verity will also meet with several Duke courses and will be giving two public talks.

In 2013, Verity visited Duke and worked with faculty and students on the project Old Stones and New Technologies. He also presented a lecture at the Nasher Museum of Art, along with getting involved in other activities around Duke. A blog post by Nasher Student Intern Sharon Chan about his previous visit can be viewed here.
